Peace of Mind

Principles for Peace of MIND.

Do Not Interfere In Others' Business Unless Asked-
Most of us create our own problems by interfering too often in others' affairs. We do so because somehow we have convinced ourselves that our way is the best way, our logic is the perfect logic and those who do not conform to our thinking must be criticized and steered to the right direction, our direction. This thinking denies the existence of individuality and consequently the existence of God.. God has created each one of us in a unique way. No two human beings can think or act in exactly the same way. All men or women act the way they do because God within them prompts them that way. Mind your own business and you will keep your peace.

Forgive And Forget-
This is the most powerful aid to peace of mind. We often develop ill feelings inside our heart for the person who insults us or harms us. We nurture grievances. This in turn results in loss of sleep, development of stomach ulcers, and high blood pressure. This insult or injury was done once, but nourishing of grievance goes on forever by constantly remembering it. Get over this bad habit. Life is too short to waste in such trifles. Forgive,20Forget, and march on. Love flourishes in giving and forgiving.

Do Not Crave For Recognition-
This world is full of selfish people. They seldom praise anybody without selfish motives. They may praise you today because you are in power, but no sooner than you are powerless, they will forget your achievement and will start finding faults in you. Why do you wish to kill yourse lf in striving for their recognition? Their recognition is not worth the aggravation. Do your duties ethically and sincerely.

Do Not Be Jealous-
We all have experienced how jealousy can disturb our peace of mind. You know that you work harder than your colleagues in the office, but sometimes they get promotions; you do not. You started a business several years ago, but you are not as successful as your neighbor whose business is only one year old. There are several examples like these in everyday life. Should you be jealous? No. Remember everybody's life is shaped by his/her destiny, which has now become his/her reality. If you are destined to be rich, nothing in the world can stop you. If you are not so destined, no one can help you either. Nothing will be gained by blaming others for your misfortune. Jealousy will not get you anywhere; it will only take away your peace of mind.

Change Yourself According To The Environment-
If you try to change the environment single-handedly, the chances are you will fail. Instead, change yourself to suit your environment. As you do this, even the environment, which has been unfriendly to you, will mysteriously change and seem congenial and harmonious.

Endure What Cannot Be Cured-
This is the best way to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. Every day we face numerous inconveniences, ailments, irritations, and accidents that are beyond our control. If we cannot control them or change them, we must learn to put up with these things. We must learn to endure them cheerfully. Believe in yourself and you will gain in terms of patience, inner strength and will power.

Do Not Bite Off More Than You Can Chew-
This maxim needs to be remembered constantly. We often tend to take more responsibilities than we are capable of carrying out. This is done to satisfy our ego. Know your limitations. . Why take on additional loads that may create more worries? You cannot gain peace of mind by expanding your external activities. Reduce your material engagements and spend time in prayer, introspection and meditation. This will reduce those thoughts in your mind that make you restless. Uncluttered mind will produce greater peace of mind.

Meditate Regularly-
Meditation calms the mind and gets rid of disturbing thoughts. This is the highest state of peace of mind. Try and experience it yourself. If you meditate earnestly for half an hour everyday, your mind will tend to become peaceful during the remaining twenty-three and half-hours. Your mind will not be easily disturbed as it was before. You would benefit by gradually increasing the period of daily meditation. You may think that this will interfere with your daily work. On the contrary, this will increase your efficiency and you will be able to produce better results in less time.

Never Leave The Mind Vacant-
An empty mind is the devil's workshop. All evil actions start in the vacant mind. Keep your mind occupied in something positive, something worthwhile. Actively follow a hobby. Do something that holds your interest. You must decide what you value more: money or peace of mind. Your hobby, like social work or religious work, may not always earn you more money, but you will have a sense of fulfillment and achievement. Even when you are resting physically, occupy yourself in healthy reading or mental chanting of God's name.

Do Not Procrastinate And Never Regret-
Do not waste time in protracted wondering " Should I or shouldn't I?" Days, weeks, months, and years may be wasted in that futile mental debating. You can never plan enough because you can never anticipate all future happenings. Value your time and do the things that need to be done. It does not matter if you fail the first time. You can learn from your mistakes and succeed the next time. Sitting back and worrying will lead to nothing. Learn from your mistakes, but do not brood over the past.
DO NOT REGRET... Whatever happened was destined to happen only that way. Why cry over spilt milk?

TIPS to improve SELF CONFIDENCE

Here are some quick tips to improve Self Confidence. If we are committed to have a healthy self confidence there are many things you can do every day to boost your self confidence, each small steps that will help you to reach your goal. The good news is that self-esteem is not fixed and can be improved, try some of the steps below to boost your confidence and self-esteem.

1. Identify your successes- Everyone is good at something, so discover the things at which you excel, then focus on your talents. Give yourself permission to take pride in them. Give yourself credit for your successes. Inferiority is a state of mind in which you've declared yourself a victim. Do not allow yourself to be victimized.

2. Look in the mirror and smile- Studies surrounding what's called the "facial feedback theory" suggest that the expressions on your face can actually encourage your brain to register certain emotions. So by looking in the mirror and smiling every day, you might feel happier with yourself and more confident in the long run.

3. Exercise and eat healthy- Exercise raises adrenaline and makes one feel happier and healthier. It is certainly an easy and effective way to boost your self-confidence

4. Turn feelings of envy or jealousy into a desire to achieve. Stop wanting what others have just because they have it; seek things simply because you want them, whether anybody else has them or not.

5. When you're feeling superbly insecure, write down a list of things that are good about you. Then read the list back. You'd be surprised at what you can come up with.

6. Don't be afraid to push yourself a bit - a little bit of pressure can actually show just how good you are!

7. You can try taking a martial arts or fitness class/course (or both). This will help build confidence and strength.

8. Invest in some new clothing and donate some of your old clothing to send a message to yourself that you both look sharp and feel sharp.

9. Try to make yourself talk positively at all times. When you hear yourself saying you can't do something, stop and say you can. Unless you try, you will never know whether you are able to or not.

10. Don't get wrapped up in your mistakes and dwell on bad points; they can contrast your good points or even give you something to improve. There's no feeling like being good at something you were really bad at.

11. Don't confuse what you have with who you are. People degrade their self worth when comparing possessions.

& MOST IMPORTANT

12. Surround yourself with nurturing friends, not overly critical individuals who make you feel inadequate or insecure. This could do great harm and damage to your self confidence.

SWAMI VIVEKANAND

When Swami Vivekananda went to USA, a lady asked him to marry her.When Swami asked the lady about what made her ask him such question.The lady replied that she was fascinated by his intellect. She wanted a child of such an intellect. So she asked Swami, whether he could marry her and give a child like him.
He said to that lady, that since she was attracted only by his intellect, there is no problem.

"My dear lady, I understand your desire. Marrying and bringing a child in to this world and understanding whether it is intelligent or not takes very long time.More over it is not guaranteed. Instead, to fulfil your desire immediately, I can suggest a guaranteed way.
Take me as your child. You are my mother. Now , your desire of havinga child of my intellect is fulfilled." The lady was speechless.. ..!!!

We all receive unexpected questions at times; it depends on how we handle the situation !!

All About H1N1

H1N1- Symptons & Prevention

What is the new influenza A [H1N1]?

This is a new influenza A [H1N1] virus that has never before circulated among humans. This virus is not related to previous or current human seasonal influenza viruses. The place of origin of the virus is unknown.

What are the signs and symptoms of infection?

Signs of influenza A [H1N1] are flu-like, including fever, cough, headache, muscle and joint pain, sore throat and runny nose, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhoea.

Why are we so worried about this flu when hundreds of thousands die every year from seasonal epidemics?

Influenza A [H1N1] is a new virus and one to which most people have no, or little immunity and, therefore, this virus could cause more infections than are seen with seasonal flu. World Health Organization [WHO] is working closely with manufacturers to expedite the development of a safe and effective vaccine but it will be some months before it is available.
In addition, the new influenza A [H1N1] appears to be as contagious as seasonal influenza, and is spreading fast particularly among young people [from age 10 – 45]. The severity of the disease ranges from very mild symptoms to severe illnesses that can result in death. The majority of people who contract the virus experience the milder disease and recover without antiviral treatment or medical care. Of the more serious cases, more than half of hospitalised people had underlying health conditions or weak immune systems.

How do I know if I have influenza A [H1N1]?

You will not be able to tell the difference between seasonal flu and influenza A [H1N1] without medical help. Typical symptoms to watch for are similar to seasonal viruses and include fever, cough, headache, body aches, sore throat and runny nose. Only your medical practitioner and local health authority can confirm a case of influenza A [H1N1].

What should I do if I think I have the illness?

If you feel unwell, have high fever, cough or sore throat:
• stay at home and keep away from work, school or crowds;
• rest and take plenty of fluids;
• cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing. If you are using
tissues, make sure you dispose of them carefully. Clean your hands
immediately after with soap and water or cleanse them with an alcohol-based
hand rub.
• if you do not have a tissue close by when you cough or sneeze, cover your
mouth as much as possible with the crook of your elbow;
• use a mask to help you contain the spread of droplets when you are around
others, but be sure to do so correctly;
• inform family and friends about your illness and try to avoid contact with
other people;
• If possible, contact a health professional before travelling to a health
facility to discuss whether a medical examination is necessary.

What can I do to protect myself from catching influenza A [H1N1]?

The main route of transmission of the new influenza A[H1N1] virus seems to be similar to seasonal influenza, via droplets that are expelled by speaking, sneezing or coughing. You can prevent getting infected by avoiding close contact with people who show influenza-like symptoms [trying to maintain a distance of about one metre if possible] and taking the following measures:
• avoid touching your mouth and nose;
• clean hands thoroughly with soap and water, or cleanse them with an alcohol-
based hand rub on a regular basis [especially if touching the mouth and
nose, or surfaces that are potentially contaminated];
• avoid close contact with people who might be ill;
• reduce the time spent in crowded settings if possible;
• improve airflow in your living space by opening windows;
• practise good health habits including adequate sleep, eating nutritious
food, and keeping physically active.

What about using a mask? What does WHO recommend?

If you are not sick you do not have to wear a mask. But if you are caring for a sick person, you can wear a mask when you are in close contact with the ill person and dispose it immediately after contact, and cleanse your hands thoroughly afterwards.

When and how to use a mask?

If you are sick and must travel or be around others, cover your mouth and nose. Using a mask correctly in all situations is essential. Incorrect use actually increases the chance of spreading infection.

Should I take an antiviral now just in case I catch the new virus?

No. You should only take an antiviral, such as oseltamivir or zanamivir, if your health care provider advises you to do so. Individuals should not buy medicines to prevent or fight this new influenza without a prescription, and they should exercise caution in buying antivirals over the Internet.

When should I seek medical care?

Seek medical care if you experience shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, or if a fever continues more than three days. For parents with a young child who is ill, seek medical care if a child has fast or laboured breathing, continuing fever or convulsions [seizures].

Should I go to work if I have the flu but am feeling OK?

No. Whether you have influenza A[H1N1] or a seasonal influenza, you should stay home and away from work through the duration of your symptoms. This is a precaution that can protect your work colleagues and others.

Can I travel?

If you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of influenza, you should not travel. If you have any doubts about your health, you should check with your health care provider.
